TBO API Integration: Building a Travel Booking Website in India
For Indian travel agencies, selling live flights and hotels on your own website usually means integrating a supplier API such as TBO. We took SAGA Luxury Travel's Flight and Hotel integrations through TBO certification. Here is what the journey looks like.
The booking flow
- Search — destination, dates and travellers sent to the API; results cached briefly for speed.
- Pricing / re-validation — prices can change, so the selected option is re-checked before payment.
- Booking — passenger or guest details submitted; booking reference stored.
- Payment — online payment captured (e.g. Razorpay) with clear handling if the booking fails after payment.
- Voucher / ticket — sent by email and shown in the customer's account.
- Cancellation — cancellation charges fetched and shown before confirming.
Certification
Before going live, the supplier checks your integration with test cases: correct requests, error handling, price changes and the booking lifecycle. Clean logging of every request and response makes certification much faster.
B2C pricing rules
If you sell directly to consumers, the supplier's recommended selling price rules apply. Build your markup logic so it never undercuts those rules.
Common pitfalls
- Not re-validating price before payment.
- No recovery flow when payment succeeds but booking fails.
- Session/token expiry during long searches.
- Ignoring supplier error codes instead of showing a clear message.
